The movement for women’s rights was a seedling of an idea in the 19th century, slowly growing but far from blossoming.  These three plays give us a hint as to what life for women was like back then.  In “A Saturday in Seneca Falls,” a woman and her teenage daughter are excited to join the first convention of the women’s movement in 1848, despite scorn not only from the woman’s husband but also from her own mother.  “The Two Offers” provides a dramatic look at how important it was for a woman to marry well to secure her future and how few other options she had.  “Women in Pants” provides a playful look at the bloomer craze of 1851 while revealing how threatened some men were by this bold fashion statement.

Whether for classroom reading, for scene work practice, or for staging a production, these short plays bring to life important moments in history with engaging characters and scenarios.  Each play is complete with not only the script, but also a cast of characters, set description, production notes, and background information.  As a royalty-free PDF, you are able to make as many copies of any (or all!)  of the scripts you need...  and produce them royalty-free!
