This delightful farce, which transposes Moliere’s classic comedy The Miser to the American West, is a fast-paced romp that will amuse audiences and give your cast a rip-roaring good time! Horace Harpagon is the stingiest old codger in the town of Shickshinney in the Old West. Although he has a fortune hidden away in the butter churn, he refuses to spend money on anything, so his four children are always pestering him for new clothes and edible food. Things get worse when the old widower decides he wants to remarry and his choice is the lovely, young Maryann, who has fallen in love with Harpagon’s son Clarence. Add to the mix a wily matchmaker, a romantic farm hand in love with Harpagon’s eldest daughter, a crafty saloon gal, and a mischievous scamp who figures out where the old miser has hidden his money, and life in Shickshinney gets pretty wild.
