The epic events of the 1950s and 1960s that brought more freedom and equality to Black citizens are revisited in this dramatic narrative. Written to be presented as a readers theatre piece, this lively retrospective of the work of Martin Luther King Jr. demonstrates that one person can inspire others to make a difference. Through narrative sequences, performers and audience see how the courage of Rosa Parks, the non-violent youth protesters, the civil rights coalition, and the freedom marchers overcame the KKK and segregationists. The program allows performers and audience alike to experience for themselves the power of personal inspiration as expressed in the song ’We Shall Overcome.’ This dramatic and comprehensive script, appropriate for teens and adults, is a superb enrichment activity for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in January, Black History Month in February, or any time of year. Discussion questions are included.

Get It Now! allows you to immediately download PDFs of the script, director’s book, and music scores for our shows. Production/rehearsal CDs sets are also available for immediate download. You will not receive physical versions of anything you select for Get It Now! delivery.
