Jane Jeffries grew up in Loogootee, Indiana, and even though there weren’t many theatre opportunities in town, she credits her love for theatre to her mother, who frequently took the family to area productions and played records (yes, records) of musicals at home.
She earned her B.A. in English at the University of Evansville and her M.A. in English at Penn State University. She got her start writing plays when she taught drama at a private high school that had trouble affording scripts. Jane and her witty husband, Jim Jeffries, began writing dinner theatre scripts for the school and branched out from there.
She has kept her hand in drama with the Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild and helped create a children’s drama camp and a high school Shakespeare camp. Currently, she teaches English at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
Jane and Jim also sell madrigal dinner scripts online. Their scripts have been produced in 47 states, Canada, Japan, Germany, United Kingdom, Guatemala, and... Croatia.
