Artistic but introverted high school students Leia and Ethan find out firsthand when their art teacher, Mr. Sloan, gives each of them some distinctive sketchbook paper. Turns out the special paper is more unique than either of them ever imagined!
It doesn’t take but one miserable first day of school in the shadow of trendy influencers and handsome jocks before Leia and Ethan’s lives start to imitate their art — doom and gloom. But as the first week of school continues, the two artists discover power in the sketchbook paper, and their respective moods shift, first to hopeful and bright but then... to something different than anything they’ve felt before. Leia and Ethan are no longer the “nobodies” they once were. But are they still being true to themselves? Or to their real friends?
Loaded with ensemble numbers and duets and including a unique blend of 1980s-inspired synth rock, rap, dance music, and power ballads, Sketchbook resonates with relevant, modern-day messages of acceptance and individuality.
