Once upon a time... That’s how all good fairy tales begin, right? But Princess Irene — locked in a tower and held captive by a supposedly evil ogre — doesn’t care for her story. She’s bored and certainly not interested in the predictable “happily ever after” she’s learned about from her only friend, the nurse.
When Irene awakens early on the morning of her birthday to find the tender-hearted ogre, Fredrick, sneaking a gift into her tower bedroom, she begins to question her whole story. Just who is writing her tale? And if the ogre isn’t really evil, then who’s to say if any of her story is as it should be?
As Prince Charming comes to slay the ogre and “rescue her,” Irene flees from the kingdom with Fredrick and sets out in search of a different destiny, ending up in our modern world. The panicked Nurse and Prince Larry follow them and enlist the help of a Sherlock-like inspector to track the princess. When they finally catch up with the missing princess and ogre, they all learn an important lesson: Irene has always been the author of her own story!
