The Widow White and her daughter, Nell, come to Oregon Country to invest their savings. They become victims of Nathaniel Blackside, who has an eye for both their money and lovely Nell. He sells them a gold mine (which is somewhat short on gold), but when the inevitable foreclosure time arrives, they discover the real value of the property lies in the tall timber of their homestead.
