This unique whodunit includes both unscripted and scripted portions and allows the audience to interact with members of the cast. Audience members will feel as if they are guests at the birthday party of eccentric zillionaire and pilot, “Budgy” Ninny, who’s about to announce the winner of a million dollar art endowment that will be given upon his death.
During an unscripted thirty-minute Welcome Reception, your audience will mingle with several characters in the show, including the three endowment nominees, Lord Ninny’s long-suffering fourth wife, the Ninny family physician and his nurse, and the loyal but laconic family butler.
After the reception, audience members will be seated for what they expect to be Ninny’s grand entrance to his party. As the scripted part of the show begins, the adventurous pilot is nowhere to be seen, and a detective steps forward to explain that he is there to investigate the tycoon’s murder!
During the dinner break or intermission, the detective invites audience members to review a Case File, then submit their guess as to the culprit.
Ideal as a fundraiser, additional clues and/or ballots, all included in the script, may also be sold during this time. Once everyone has weighed in, the murderer is revealed in a scripted, ten-minute Denouement.
Written for dinner theatre, this can easily be modified for a more traditional theatre setting.
