Young Mark Twain returns to the Garden of Eden from time to time to refresh his memory on a few points. Like everything else these days, the Garden is getting crowded with tourists dropping candy wrappers in the shrubbery and birdwatchers interrupting private thoughts. One thing remains constant, however... the story of Adam and Eve. Here it’s told in a delightful manner utilizing both story theatre and pantomime. The play abounds in magical moments: the entrance of the animals, the birth of Cain and Abel, the serpent’s wiles at the apple tree, the original man and woman coming to understand the meaning of enduring love. And always there’s Mark himself... observing, commenting, involving the audience in a rich exchange of wit and humor. Adapted from ’Extracts from Adam’s Diary,’ ’Pudd’nhead Wilson,’ ’Eve’s Diary’ and miscellaneous Twain writings, the play requires only the bare stage for a setting.

Get It Now! allows you to immediately download PDFs of the script, director’s book, and music scores for our shows. Production/rehearsal CDs sets are also available for immediate download. You will not receive physical versions of anything you select for Get It Now! delivery. This option requires the purchase of a sufficient number of scripts (distribution rights) for your entire cast and pre-payment of your entire order, including royalties.
