Jupiter Jones slays vampires with killer guitar riffs.  That is, in the mind of 30-year-old Devin McCormack — a former X-ray salesman with a $12 million settlement that’s eradicated his ambition.  Liberated from his grueling day job, Devin has reverted back to his 12-year-old self and settled for sitting in front of the television all night and sleeping all day, much to his wife Jenny’s chagrin.  With a little encouragement from Jenny, Devin starts to believe he can become the world’s greatest writer and begins pounding away at his novel, Jupiter Jones:  Rock Star Vampire Hunter — a serious work to him, a hilarious spoof of the vampire genre to the audience, reminiscent of a Saturday Night Live skit!  As he types, Devin becomes reinvigorated with aspirations and purpose until he mistakenly hires Dr. Walker, a professor of feminist theory in literature, to be his writing mentor.  She is completely appalled as she reads Jupiter Jones which, luckily for the audience, is acted out onstage with all its campy humor.  Dr. Walker tears Devin down as low as he’s ever been, but as the two work together and learn from each other, he eventually finds the will to keep typing and finish Jupiter’s story.  In doing so, he finally is able to move on to the next chapter of his own life.
