When rich Uncle Oscar passes away, family members shed crocodile tears out of one eye while they check out the condo, the Porsche and the fast food restaurants with the other. But Uncle Oscar willed all of his money to the Save the Prairie Dog Fund, whose board of directors can dispose of the funds as they see fit. Something must be done to save the family riches from getting into the wrong hands. A distant family member, Rock Rodney, calls in Johnny Squeaky — “a master at shenanigans and quality monkeyshines” — to help the family pull a fast one. (He also happens to be the father of Rock’s beloved, LaLaLu!) Johnny dresses up like Uncle Oscar and invites a few lawyers in so he can dictate a new will. But when he starts willing everything to himself, the family can’t do a thing about it, and they realize that they were the ones who were had! A hilariously excellent adaptation of an Italian opera transported to the modern west, this clever one act has lots of good parts, quick wit and snappy dialogue.
