In this hilarious take on Hans Christian Andersen’s cautionary tale of pride and hubris, a shady seal and a slothful squid convince a fashionable emperor penguin that their magical fabric can’t be seen by just your average birdbrain! With no skills or desire to work, the dastardly duo cons the emperor penguin into giving them the only thing that matters to the slackers... boatloads of fish!
The penguin fishers become increasingly disgruntled at handing over all their fish to the gluttonous pair, and the servants and advisors try to get other penguins to admit they can’t see the cloth either! Still, all yield to peer pressure (or should we say “pier” pressure?) and turn into nothing but chickens who won’t squawk for fear they’ll be pushed from the flock.
Loaded with clever puns, slapstick comedy, and witty wordplay, parents will laugh as much as their children as the play teaches an important lesson about vanity, conformity, and the courage it takes to be honest.
