Set in the not-too-distant future, the Citizens who live in this undetermined society have been through a war in the fairly recent past. In order to keep the peace, they have adopted a “consensus at all costs” philosophy. It all works until one night when Citizen 10 can’t sleep.
Short and incredibly simple to stage with few, if any, set pieces or props, there’s more to this outstanding one act than first meets the eye. Besides offering the cast an excellent opportunity to showcase their skills as a well-oiled ensemble with impeccable timing, it offers the audience a philosophical critique about enforcing uniformity and homogeneous thought in an oppressively dystopian society. Citizen 10 is a comedy of too many manners that will engage all who see it in thoughtful discussions about its deeper meaning and the endless opportunities for bringing this world to life. Ideal for contest or staged productions, Citizen 10 is not a show you’ll quickly forget.
