A Christmas play with traditional Christmas music, come be serenaded by a trio of medieval minstrels who sing original lyrics to the tune of well-known Christmas carols! Troubled times have befallen Canterbury — the king is absent, the queen is greedy and the people are hungry. To make matters worse, Vikings have been spotted. As Abbot Gregory ponders a potentially calamitous Christmas, news of a winter’s gift arrives — monks have found a chest of gold, soon to be delivered to their abbey. Entrusted with the precious gift, two monks make a night journey to Canterbury through the forest, where they meet a troupe of minstrels missing their instruments, a poor and hungry farmer and his family, a gallant knight without land or title, and a mysterious squire rescued from three bungling Vikings. Brothers Bernard and Cecil are called upon to make a difficult choice — share the gold with their fellow travelers or carry on with their assigned task to deliver the gold to the abbey. The plot deepens when two orphan girls, one mistaken for the missing Princess Flavia, are captured by Vikings. In a convergence of playful, convoluted paths, disguises fall, truths are revealed and a winter’s gift is given just in time for the most celebrated night of all!
