”It was a cavernous night that our gumshoe, Grip, awoke to.  It was dark black like a burnt piece of toast in a bed of charcoals.  His mind struggled to regain the shrewdness and lucidity that had not only made him the best detective in the United States, north of Iowa, but also a pretty darn good crossword puzzler too...”  With those hackneyed words, Harold Finnegan, paint salesman and plodding detective writer, is creating another third-rate mystery.  Like its popular sister play, WhoDunit...  and to Whom?, this is a wildly funny, fast-paced spoof of the classic gumshoe story.  You see, as Harold pounds out his bad plays, we see the actions played out by thought-forms on stage.  And as he corrects his writing, we see the actors forced to revise their actions!  In this caper, our hero, Grip, finds himself captured by the Evil Siamese Triplets in search of the identity of the ”You’ve got mail” voice.  When Harold is called away by his demanding wife Tessie, the thought-forms take their ”rehearsal break” and play cards with a Shakespeaean thought-form and a gunslinger.  Harold returns and-lo and behold-writes them into his mediocre script!  But this is just the beginning.  You see, Harold’s not really the writer here.  The true ”valley dude” authors decide that Harold will develop a splitting headache which will result in he and his kids switching places with the thought-forms.  Macho Grip becomes the hen-pecked husband while Gunslinger and Shakespeare turn into obnoxious children!  With lots of room for extra casting, you’ll love the wacky characters and wonderful comedy as you find out just who was the big idea anyway!
