High school seniors Desi and Lori want a taste of the good life enjoyed by glamour girl Nikki and her friends. To earn extra cash, the budding journalists start up their own tabloid magazine. Uncovering silly stories about the staff and students is easy! The football star has a teddy bear! The art teacher has a secret admirer... or two! Easy, that is, until they face a defamation lawsuit for quoting Nikki as saying “brains are useless.” Luckily, even the ambulance chasing attorney wants to drop the suit once Lori and Desi provide proof that she really said it. But Nikki doesn’t intend to drop it. To get revenge, she fabricates a story about a gangster named Lucky Lou and stolen school money. Now everybody is looking for the money, including the school board! In a hysterical twist, Nikki’s story about the gangster and the loot ends up being closer to reality than she would have ever thought and the missing school money turns up in the most unexpected of places!
