Ten amateur archaeologists have signed on to help famed explorer Dr. Lewis Squeaky dig for Ali Sann’s treasure — the Dead Man’s Chest — on Heart Island, somewhere in the Caribbean.  Captain Frosty Foote, her husband Herb, and the zany group board the Big Digger, a ship whose mysterious past comes back to haunt all aboard!  On an archaeological expedition for the same treasure back in 1933, Dr. Dangerfield was the victim of a grisly pirate murder.  It’s fitting that a trio of modern-day pirates sneak on the ship just as she casts off.  Thinking they’re her tardy crew, Frosty puts them to work while they secretly plot to rob the passengers and get the treasure to boot.  To make more waves, powerhouse realtor Delphine Conklin suddenly dies.  At first it appears she’s had a heart attack, but retired General Endicott insists she’s been poisoned.  When a nasty storm hits and the radio won’t work, Frosty appeals to the one person on board who can solve the crime — Agatha Frisky, the sweet and famous mystery writer.  She has her pick of suspects, including the gung-ho general, Delphine’s overly ambitious assistant, three bickering sisters, a suspicious grad student and her heavily accented boyfriend, and an annoyingly over-the-top Casanova, not to mention the sinister pirate crew.  Accusations, chases and deception abound before the killer is revealed and the Dead Man’s Chest turns up in the most unlikely of places!
