This is not a series of monologues. It’s actual stand-alone scenes with two or three characters in each; it’s just that the characters are all supposed to be in different locations. Our playwrights — Steven Fendrich, Craig Sodaro, Charlie Lovett, and Kamron Klitgaard — got creative and had fun writing short plays with practically no set requirements and very easy costuming that actors can come up with at home.
As we all learn more about Zoom, these four scenes invite a little more creativity in their virtual staging than the four skits in Virtual Scene Collection #1. Don’t worry, you don’t need to be a master of technology — - it can be as simple as black electrical tape over one actor’s camera when they are “offstage.” But if you’re ready to start experimenting with backgrounds with a green screen or with some basic choreography as to how actors position their bodies or where they look as they speak, then this is the collection for you! One scene even includes asides directly to the camera, like in everyone’s favorite TV series, The Office.
