Top Ten Tips for Navigating Pioneer Drama’s Website
Welcome back! We hope you had a restful summer and are invigorated to dive in and make the coming year your best one yet!
By now, you’ve likely received our brand new catalog of top-sellers plus 28 new titles. And did you notice our PRICE FREEZE? We want to help you keep your cool this year — lol! — so every single product, royalty, and fee is exactly the same as last year!
We are proud to be one of the only (if not THE only) play publisher to send out a comprehensive catalog, and we encourage you to hold onto it for an entire year. The catalog works best when you use it in tandem with our website, where you can learn more about the shows that look interesting by reading free script samples, listening to bits of the music, and seeing listings, photos, and testimonials of past productions.
Our website carries over 1,100 plays, 230 musicals, and 220 texts and aids, so we want to share our top ten tips for easily navigating through our website to find exactly what you’re looking for!
- Our powerful search engine is on every single page and allows you to search by title, playwright, genre, or keyword. On our home page, simply use the SEARCH OUR CATALOG box under our logo. From any other page, use the green SEARCH bar in the top right.
- To browse through our titles more broadly, select one of the five types of theatre listed on our home page. Or start with the green drop-down bars from any page to select the type of play or musical you’re interested in.
- Use a computer with a mouse, not a phone or tablet. Our Cast Size and Running Time slider bars are exclusively mouse-driven and do not work with a touchscreen. Besides, our website is so rich with content that your eyes will thank you for using a bigger screen to read the descriptions and sample scripts!
- To narrow your search further, use any or all of these additional tools:
- Choose either Plays or Musicals unless you really want to see All Titles.
- Set the slider bars for the Cast Size and Running Time range you want to see.
- Select the genres you want to include in your search. (More on this in #5!)
- Type in a keyword or favorite playwright’s name to fine tune your results even more.
- Our genre choices also give you the options to EXCLUDE any type of play from your search results. Honestly, this tool is the most powerful option in our search engine. For example, if you’re at a high school looking for a one-act play, simply EXCLUDE children’s shows, fairy tales, elementary school, etc. While you’re at it, you might also want to exclude Christmas shows and more. Just keep excluding types of shows until you’re down to a manageable list of possibilities.
- Sort your list by how you want them displayed. Our lists default to show you new titles first, with everything else listed by popularity. However, by clicking on SORT between the orange dotted lines, you can instead choose to list the plays by Cast Size, Running Time, or Alphabetically. This is especially helpful if you’re on a phone or table and can’t use our slider bars for these parameters.
- To start a new search or return to the home page from any page, just click on Pioneer’s logo in the upper-left corner.
- Curious about our top-selling shows? Go back to our home page and click on the orange button that says BEST-SELLING SHOWS in the middle of the page.
- In our home page SEARCH OUR CATALOG box, switch to TEXTS AND AIDS or ROYALTY-FREE SKITS then click SUBMIT to find products other than our Plays and Musicals. Once you’ve selected either of these, you can also use the search engine to enter a title, author, or keyword.
