Top 10 Ways to Fully Utilize Our Online Script Samples

Almost every script on our website has a script sample that you can simply click on to look at immediately without downloading or paying anything.  Every script sample includes the Cast of Characters, all the Production Notes, and about a third of the script.

We want to make sure you take full advantage of this free script sample by sharing the top 10 ways directors use them to help choose the best show for their group.

1. Look at the Cast of Characters.  About three-quarters of our scripts include a line count per character, so you can see the size of each role.
   
   
2. Look in the Production Notes for a section on “Flexible Cast Size and Casting” to identify the roles that can be doubled, where extras can be added, and which roles can be played by any gender.
   
   
3. Look at the Set Description and Set Diagram to see all required sets.
   
   
4. Look in the Production Notes to see a complete list of all Onstage Properties and Brought On Props.
   
   
5. Look in the Production Notes to see any Costume Notes and requirements.
   
   
6. Look in the Production Notes to see any notes on suggested Sound, Music, or Lighting Effects.
   
   
7. Look at the pages of the script itself to see the layout and ease of reading.  We’ve been publishing plays and musicals for 62 years now, and we’ve only improved with age in this area!
   
   
8. Get a sense of the quality of the writing by reading a portion of the script itself.
   
   
9. Look at what page the Production Notes start on.  That means the play ends on the previous page, so you can always tell how many pages are in the script itself.
   
   
10. Print as many copies of the script sample as you want to use for auditions, a class reading, or other class projects.  There’s never any charge to use our printable script samples!
