The Ease — and Joy! — of Producing a Pioneer Drama Musical

By Debra Fendrich, Publisher, Pioneer Drama Service

While you won’t find classic Broadway or Disney musicals at Pioneer, you’ll soon discover that your audiences — packed with friends and family of your cast and crew — will be as big as ever and happy to watch something fresh and new!  Before Thanksgiving we published an article, Give My Regards to Un-Broadway, about why skipping the familiar musicals can open up “a whole new world” for you.  But there are even more reasons why you will love the ease — and joy! — of producing a Pioneer Drama musical!

Pioneer Drama Service provides helpful, attentive, and immediate customer service to all our customers, no matter how big or small the theatre.  Our office is fully staffed Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.  to 8 p.m.  Eastern Time.  We welcome both your phone calls and your online chats during these hours.

In addition to our gold-standard customer service, producing a Pioneer Drama musical is simple, straightforward, and budget-minded.  Choose from over 200 musicals, all specifically written for success at the amateur and educational level.  They feature ensemble casts with flexible choruses, plenty of female roles, and set and costuming requirements that can be a simple or complex as your budget and talent allows.

But that’s just the beginning!  Here are a dozen more reasons directors love working with Pioneer Drama!

  1. No applying for rights.  Discover the ease and joy of automatic licensing without any application!  Since our musicals don’t have exclusive rights, you never have to wait to find out if a show is available.  And our royalty prices are fixed no matter the size of your house or the price of admission, so we don’t even need to know!

  2. Work on your timeline, not ours.  We have no rules or restrictions on when you purchase your materials or when you can announce our show.  It’s totally up to you to determine how many weeks you rehearse before you perform.  Just as important, you can announce your show at any time, even before you’ve purchased your materials!

  3. EVERY musical can easily and affordably be licensed for recording and/or posting online.  Putting your show online is not time-restricted, so your video posting can be permanent.

  4. Know your costs upfront.  Royalties are fixed, so they don’t fluctuate based on the size of your house or your admission price.  Our prices are consistently the lowest on the market, with scripts no more than $9.25 each and royalties no more than $105 per performance.

  5. Choose between traditional or electronic parts.  Everything from scripts to director’s books and from piano scores to music tracks are available either way.  You can even mix and match!

  6. Order studio-produced music tracks both with and without lyrics directly from us for any musical for only $85 total, including the rights to use them in your production.

  7. Help your actors learn the lyrics quickly!  We are the only company to offer Lyric Learner™ PowerPoint slideshows for all our top-selling musicals.

  8. Don’t wait!  Materials are either shipped or emailed to you within one business day of your order.  Need it even faster?  Get all your materials immediately through our exclusive Get It Now! delivery option.

  9. Put away your erasers.  Your materials are yours to keep, so no erasing required.  Cast members can keep their scripts as a memento of a great production.  Or, re-use your scripts and music again another year by simply contacting us to arrange the rights for your new production.

  10. Receive permission quickly and easily to change genders or make other small changes to the script to help it fit your cast and community.

  11. Preview musicals with our instantaneous delivery E-view Program.  Not only do you receive the complete e-script, you also receive the sample music tracks at no extra charge, and they remain in your E-view library permanently so you’ll never lose them.

  12. Take advantage of our Musical Perusal Program to peruse the script and piano score for up to three different musicals for 30 days.  As long as you produce one of the shows, this Perusal Program won’t cost you a penny!
