Fifty Years, Fifty New Titles

By Steven Fendrich, Publisher, Pioneer Drama Service

Steven Fendrich has been the publisher of Pioneer Drama Service for over 25 years.  Throughout his life, he has enjoyed many aspects of theatre, including acting, directing, doing improv and writing plays and musicals.  He is passionate about promoting the art of drama, believing that theatre has the power to touch lives in many ways, by creating community and giving young actors a place to shine and grow.

I remember when my parents first started Pioneer Drama Service as I was growing up in Cody, Wyoming.  I would sit on the living room floor and put address stickers on catalogs by hand.  (California took hours!)  Pioneer Drama Service has come a long way since then.  In the last 10 years alone, we’ve sent out over two million catalogs.  From our roots in community theatre to now being one of the premiere publishers for educational and children’s theatre, we’re constantly evolving to keep up with the times.  This year beckons in our golden anniversary, and I’m proud to say that Pioneer Drama celebrates turning 50 years old by finding new ways to improve.

Free Script Samples Online  You’ve asked for it, so we’ve delivered!  With just a click of a mouse on any one of our more than 925 shows online, you can now instantly see about a third of the script...  at no charge.  This script sample includes the complete cast list, set description and production notes, plus many pages of the actual script so you can “try it before you buy it.”  We know your budget dollars are precious and few, and we’re all about helping you make these dollars stretch as far as possible.  With free script samples online, you can make sure that even the preview copies you buy are right on target for your group.

Live Chat  Now you have another option when it comes to asking us questions or getting advice.  Without a doubt, teachers have one of the most demanding jobs, and far too often, you don’t have time to make even a simple phone call to get your questions answered.  Simply click on the button in the lower right corner of any page on our website, and you’ll instantly be connected to one of our helpful customer service representatives.  And if you happen to contact us after business hours, we’ll answer you via email the very next business day...  usually first thing in the morning!

Fifty Years, Fifty New Titles  Yes, that’s right.  This year our catalog is overflowing with 50 new plays and musicals, all handpicked to ensure we continue to offer you only the highest quality selection.  From hysterical school romps like Attack of the Zombies! to our ever-popular fractured fairy tales such as Little Red Robin Hood, from plays with a sweet moral as in Jezebel:  Bad Witch Gone Good to outstanding social awareness pieces like in Unplugged, from comedy murder mysteries such as The Butler Did It to dramatic and intense community theatre works like Frankenstein, Pioneer Drama is proud to continue our long-standing tradition of offering you the broadest variety of fine shows to meet all your theatre needs.  Check out the complete list of all our new titles from the past year.

E-view subSCRIPTion Program  E-view is our shortcut way of saying electronic preview script.  It’s the fastest and easiest way to preview scripts for your next production, whether you want to read just one or an assortment of titles.  For whatever title you choose, the E-view is a PDF of the entire script from the title page to the very last production note.  And it’s just what we say it is — an electronic script, not printable, yet permanently stored in your online Pioneer library so you never have to worry about losing it.  Thousands of customers have already started a Pioneer library and love the convenience of it!  Read more about our E-view program here.

At Pioneer Drama, we’re not one to rest on our laurels.  We’ve spent half a century growing as a family owned and operated business, offering plays and musicals custom-designed for success without huge production costs.  We give you our promise that we’ll continue our quest to always find new titles to offer you and new ways to improve in our ever-changing world.
