Anti-Bullying Resources
Here are some top-selling plays on bullying appropriate for elementary audiences:
- Three Bully Goats Griff will hold the attention of your young audiences by using fun and silly stage action as it exposes them to the consequences of bullying. Complete with discussion questions, this lighthearted, easy to produce children’s show is the perfect tool for teaching young audiences about bullying and helping develop empathy.
- Just Like Us teaches a critical lesson about prejudice through a deceptively simple parable. This thought-provoking piece is ideal for touring and leaves the audience ready to launch into contemplative discussions and problem-solving as they explore their own beliefs about stereotyping, prejudice and intolerance.
- Who, Me? Yes, You! is a great play to use with younger students. While it focuses on social responsibility as a whole rather than exclusively bullying, it offers a wealth of information for younger students on how to deal with bullies and what it means to be socially responsible. Because the play contains a series of sketches, it also provides a unique opportunity to create your own scenes and modify the play for the schools you are performing for.
These powerful plays are appropriate for middle or high school audiences:
- Cyber-mare is an impressive resource for combating cyber-bullying as it depicts an array of scenarios in which use of the Internet and other technology leads to trouble. Presented with no sugar-coating, this timely contemporary drama shares strategies for dealing with and avoiding these situations.
- Pickin' is a powerful play that ends in a culmination of events that will shock your students and provide students with many talking points during follow-up discussions.
