Kristi Thielen has been writing for the theatre since 1980. In addition to over 30 plays for children and teens, she has created a suite of participation plays for pre-readers and a series of plays for performers with disabilities. She has taught creative dramatics, acting and playwriting and led several children's and teen's troupes, including the Cheery Street Players and Cherries Jubilee in Rapid City, South Dakota. Since 2006, Kristi has been employed with Rapid City's Journey Museum where she writes for and oversees the museum's theatre. Her initial productions there included Not Just High Water, a 90-minute work based on the memories of children and teenagers who survived the community's catastrophic 1972 flood.
