Author Profile:  Michael Gordon Shapiro

Michael Gordon Shapiro is Los Angeles-based composer.  By day (and often by night) he writes scores for film, games, TV, and by night (and sometimes by day) he writes musicals.

An avid reader of fantasy, sci-fi, and other “nerd literature,” Michael looks for ways to explore those genres in musical storytelling — as well as add humor and aspirational views of the human condition.  His spirit guides are John Williams, Jim Henson, and Tom Lehrer.

His major theatrical projects include Gideon and the Blundersnorp (Best Musical, Hollywood Fringe 2021; winner of 2025 Shubert Fendrich Memorial Playwriting Contest), The Bully Problem (Encore Producer’s Award, Hollywood Fringe 2019; finalist for Richard Rodgers Award), Super Sidekick:  The Musical (co-written with Gregory Crafts) and the short musical anthology, A Feast of Snacks.
