Chelsea Petty (Email me!)
Chelsea Petty has been a teacher since 2006. She has a taught a variety of subjects in several different schools, but has always gotten her students involved in theatre. In 2010, she helped Okolona High School become of the first recipients of the Touching Lives through Theatre Grant. She has started drama programs at three schools in Mississippi and is the founder and former director of Rebuilding the Ruins Drama Ministry for teens. Chelsea is now in her dream job as Drama teacher at Columbus Middle School in Mississippi. She is a 2006 graduate of Rockford College in Rockford, IL with a major in Theatre Arts and a minor in Secondary Education. She has been writing stories, poems, and plays for as long as she can remember, but her first produced play came at the age of 13 when she adapted the Max Lucado book, A Christmas Child, into a play for her church’s youth Christmas program. She has written many skits, human videos, and plays for churches, drama teams, and schools, and continues to write for her own students. Most of the inspiration for her plays comes from her students, whom she calls her “kids.” Chelsea currently lives in Columbus, MS with her cat Chloe. Feel free to contact her with any questions or comments about her plays as well as sending pictures or videos of the productions.
