Author Profile: Stephen Murray
Stephen Murray is a composer, lyricist, playwright, and performing arts educator from Massachusetts. His musicals and plays have been performed in all 50 of the United States as well as in Canada, China, Japan, Australia, Hungary, Singapore, Germany, Malta, The Netherlands, and South Africa. Steve's musical, Tortoise vs. Hare, was a recipient of the Anna Zornio Memorial Children's Theatre Playwriting Awardt. Musical! The Bard is Back! was the winner of the Jackie White Memorial National Children's Play Writing Contest, and has the distinction of being the first musical to receive this award.
Steve received a BA in Music Education from Westfield State University, a Masters of Education in Fine Arts from Fitchburg State University, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts from Boston University. He has had (and continues to have) a lengthy career as a music educator and is proud of the many student teachers he has mentored who are now educators in the workforce.
When not teaching, directing, or writing, Steve can sometimes be found ON stage as a performer. He loves an audience and loves to sing. He hopes you have as much fun performing in his shows as he had writing them!
