Author Profile:  Jeffrey Mathews

Jeffrey Mathews is beyond thrilled to become part of the Pioneer Drama family as a writer and composer with his best friend, Jordan Louis Fischer.  Jeffrey is a graduate of The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York City, where he studied all aspects of modern musical theater.  He is a proficient pianist, an intermediate violinist/violist, and a singer/actor/dancer.  After graduating from AMDA, Jeffrey went on to start choreographing, musical directing, and directing youth theater in his hometown in upstate New York.  It was there that he met Jordan, and they began creating original work together.  Dirty Laundry was their first finished and published work, written specifically with Pioneer Drama in mind.  They have gone on to write several musicals for adult performers, including Natalie:  A New Musical and The Mysterious Murder of Angston Levi III.  They look forward to their next project for Pioneer Drama.

Jeffrey began dabbling in composition during junior high school, writing a simple piano piece here or there until, during his senior year of high school, he entered his first collaborative partnership to develop a musical.  His first project was an ambitious one, combining various mythological tales into a single story of romance and mystery, taking nearly five years to complete.  That musical, entitled Hero, was workshopped and premiered in the spring of 2011.  After Hero, Jeffrey had no intentions to write another musical, but he agreed to be a script consultant for his friend, Jordan Louis Fischer, who was eager for feedback of his work.  It was through this process that Jeffrey and Jordan both realized how their creative energies complement each other, and before long Jordan had convinced Jeffrey to begin composing again.  They have been working together ever since, striving to create compelling stories that are worth telling again and again.
