J.  R.  Hurst has been a theatre professional since graduating from Wichita State University in 1980.  Since then he has worked as a performer at many theatres around Wichita, KS, as well as freelancing as a writer and director.  J.  R.  has three Mary-Jane Teall Theatre awards (for Cabaret Oldtown’s The Rocky Horror Show, for Center Theatre’s Bravo Caruso and as Banquo in Macbeth for Center Theatre).  For many years he and his wife Zoe Bell Buess Hurst partnered as writers on fiction, industrial shows, melodrama and children’s theatre scripts.
