Author Profile: Stuart M. DeLuca
Stuart M. DeLuca was born in Chicago, but moved several times during his childhood as the son of a career Army man. Stu received his bachelor's degree in drama from Illinois Wesleyan University, where he was when he wrote Angel in the Clearing. He received his master's degree (MFA) in drama (playwriting) from the University of Texas at Austin. He co-wrote five books on law enforcement to be used to train police officers at the academy or college level. He also wrote two books about the history of television and its use in instruction.
At his death, in January 2005, DeLuca was the editor of the REACTer, the official magazine of REACT International. He also was on the board of the Texas Inmate Families Association, an organization that he founded in 1996. Stu also wrote the Book of Principles, which outlined his philosophical and religious beliefs. He was a lifelong science fiction buff and was particularly fond of the books written by Anne McCaffrey, to whom he wrote more than one "fan letter." He and his widow, Joan, have two grown children and four grandchildren.
