Gordon C. Bennett (Email me!)
After 29 years teaching Communication Arts at Eastern College (now Eastern University) in St. Davids, PA, he retired in 1997 to travel, to read and to explore avocations as a columnist, woodworker and golfer, “If you can call what I do golf!” exclaims Bennett. He has written dozens of one-acts for publication, and Verily remains in the Pioneer Drama catalog. He has also authored books on Reader’s Theatre and Christian Theatre.
Bennett's full-length drama, God of Laughter, a tragicomedy about the life and times of the famous French comedian, Molière, won the 2003 award for best full-length play in a competition sponsored by Christians in Theatre Arts (www.cita.org). This play and his full length docu-drama My Name is Ossian Sweet are available from Heartland Plays. Bennett also has two plays available by emailing him: Tartuffe — and All That Jazz!, a new adaptation of Moliere's classic set in 1927 St. Louis, and Dick Vader's New Heart, a satirical fantasy on Dick Cheney.
Bennett and his wife, Ruth, have two children, both of whom teach in public schools in the Boston area. His wife is an award-winning quilter.
