The author of over 100 published plays, Dr. Nolan had worked in almost every area of non-Broadway theatre. One of his plays, Cinderfeller, was selected as a co-winner of PLAYS Best Published Play for Young People award in 1975.
Nolan's full-length adult play, The Loneliest Game, was named the best play for the community theatre by the National Players Workshop.
His short plays have been anthologized by Macmillan and Company, Ginn and Company, and Houghton-Mifflin, among other major publishers.
Nolan also had written extensively about drama and dramatists.
At the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Nolan taught courses in drama for the English department and founded the Eavesdrop Theatre, a playwright's experimental theatre.
The Paul T. Nolan Deep South Writers Conference Award for One-Act Plays was established in his memory after his death in 1995.
