Author Profile: Cheri L. Maxson
Cheri Maxson teaches general English and two Syracuse University Project Advance classes, Academic Writing and Creative Nonfiction Writing, to seniors at Portville Central School in Portville, New York. She also teaches ninth grade English. She is an adjunct instructor for Syracuse University and also for the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford where she’s taught Introduction to Poetry and Introduction to Creative Nonfiction. Maxson has been the Drama Club advisor at PCS for six years and is also the middle grades newspaper advisor.
Cheri has a B.S. in Education and a B.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Pittsburgh and a Masters of Fine Arts in Writing from Spalding University. She was bitten by the theatre bug in high school. She’s written, directed and staged over a dozen of her own plays and directed and produced dozens of others over the past 20 years. She’s also published poetry and essays in literary journals and anthologies.
Cheri’s hobbies are singing and directing her local community choir, scrapbooking, reading and writing. She enjoys life in the hills of north western Pennsylvania with her husband, Rob, her daughter Jenna, and her two cats, Cuddles and Hotrod.
