Author Profile: Bryan J. Finnigan
“Absurdist comedy at it's best.” — Buzz Magazine
Bryan J. Finnigan is an odd man. Having won the 2009 “Out of The Blue” fringe festival with his one-act play based on the public phone book (The Yellow Pages: A Comedy) he enjoys harvesting absurdity out of the seemingly mundane. From comedy sketches about a Trojan Cow filled with 19th century Dandies to putting a reclusive J.D. Salinger in a half-nelson, Bryan believes the shortest distance between two points is often boring.
“A remarkable talent as a children's playwright...
Bryan has served as Resident Playwright for two different touring children's theatre companies where he was encouraged to fully indulge his sense of silly both as writer and performer. All of his scripts have been kid tested and class clown approved.
...Through the use of humor and storytelling he builds social and emotional intelligence in kids and adults alike.” — Michael Pritchard, host of PBS educational series "The Power of Choice", "You Can Choose" and "Big Changes, Big Choices."
As a teaching artist, Bryan has worked with diverse populations of acting/playwrighting students and has facilitated theatre programs for the Autism Society, Far Northern Regional Center, and was honored to be part of the California Safe Students Healthy Families grant in which he worked at several public school sites teaching conflict resolution through theatre disciplines.
Bryan currently lives and works from his home in San Diego, Ca where he is being raised by his two children and wife of many years — and lifetimes.
