Author Profile:  Louis Botto

Louis Botto is the senior editor of Playbill, the magazine for Broadway and off-Broadway theatregoers.  He is former editor of Look magazine, where he specialized in theatrical features.  His interest in the theatre began in 1937 when he attended his first Broadway show.  As a graduate student in the Speech and Drama Department of Catholic University, he had a musical and a play produced on campus, and the play won a John Hopkins Award.  He has contributed sketches to revues, been a guest drama critic on television news and has written articles for many magazines and publications.  He owns a vast collection of theatrical memorabilia and Playbill programs.  The Broadway Theatre Institute honored Mr. Botto with its 1997 Award for Excellence in Theatre History Preservation.
