Author Profile: Suzanne I. Barchers
Suzanne I. Barchers is the author of more than twenty resource and textbooks and more than twenty books for children. She earned a doctorate of education in curriculum and instruction at the University of Colorado, Boulder. After working as a teacher and administrator in public and private schools for fifteen years, Barchers served as education director and deputy director of the Children’s Museum of Denver, designing exhibits and programs, obtaining grants, and managing staff.
After the publication of her first book in 1990, she began her career in publishing and as an affiliate faculty member at the University of Colorado, Denver. Since 1999, Barchers has continued to write and was managing editor at Weekly Reader in Stanford, Connecticut and then served as Editor in Chief and Vice President at LeapFrog for more than three years. Barchers currently serves as president on the board of directors for the Association of Educational Publishers and on the PBS Media Advisory Board for the next generation of children’s programming. She consults and writes from her home in Stanford, CA.
