Laurie Allen is a West Texas playwright whose work has been performed across the United States and internationally. She is the author of more than two dozen published plays plus ten books of plays and scenes for young adults. Her newest collection, 50 Dramatic Monologues for Young Women: Breaking the Silence, features bold, emotionally rich roles for teens and women in their 20s.
Laurie’s playwriting career began when her very first script won a one-act competition, launching decades of productions in schools, theatres, and festivals worldwide. Her monologues and short plays have earned festival recognition and audience awards, and several of her competition pieces have helped high schools make it to the national level in one-act competitions. Known for blending humor, heart, and emotional honesty, her work resonates deeply with teens and young adults.
