Yes, there's trouble in town! No, not in River City, but right here in Tumbleweed, a dusty town in the Arizona Territory of the 1880s. And the bumbling Mayor Oates deserves a heap of trouble! A Boston businessman has hired the pompous fool to develop the town. Instead of spending the businessman's money wisely, however, Oates and his family have been pocketing it! The family has filled all the local positions in town themselves-sheriff, doctor, schoolmarm-and they are totally incompetent! And the town hall they were suppose to build? Nothing but a hole in the ground! When the family receives word that an inspector is on his way from Boston to see how the town is developing, they panic. Just then, huckster Professor Burns comes to town. The family assumes the professor is the detective, and he is only too happy to take full advantage of their mistake. In cahoots with the glitzy cardshark, Lily de Lilac, they have the flustered relatives tripping over themselves with hysterical bribery attempts. Just when you think you couldn't laugh any harder, the real detective shows up! This wild farce has as many twists and turns as the road to Tumbleweed itself. Songs like "We'd Do Anything For You," "Liar, Liar Liar!" and "Tumbleweeds" add even more sparkle to this hysterical musical.
