When she was a freshman in high school, Peg Kehret was cast as a hillbilly granny in a one-act play. It was so much fun that she tried out for ever subsequent school play. If she didn't get cast, she worked backstage. The Theatre Bug bit Peg ... big time!

Having co-produced plays (at the community theatre level) and acted (in a touring company), it was only natural that when it came time for Peg to flex her writing muscles .. she would begin to write for the theatre.

Preferring the outlet of writing to performing (Kehret says that she would rather write than do almost anything else!) Peg has published one-acts, collections of skits, and full length plays. A highlight of her career was winning both the Forest Robert Playwriting Award and Pioneer Drama Service Playwriting Award for SPIRIT!

Kehret admits that she loves writing from a youngster's point of view and has written monologues for student actors and novels for kids in grades three - eight. Happily, two of her novels, CAGES and BACKSTAGE FRIGHT, include characters who are involved in a theatre production.

Peg Kehret has also found time to publish three drama books for teens.
