Aviva Ravel was born and resides in Montreal. She holds a Ph.D. from McGill University in Canadian Drama and taught English and Drama at McGill, Concordia and Université de Montréal. She has also taught in elementary schools and on a kibbutz in Israel. Many of her stage plays have been adapted for radio and produced by CBC and Israel Radio. Her plays include DANCE LIKE A BUTTERFLY, which toured across Canada for four years; MY RUMANIAN COUSIN and THE COURTING OF SALLY SCHWARTZ, comedies; dramas such as VENGEANCE, MOON PEOPLE, DISPOSSESSED; and children's plays such as LEGENDS OF KING SOLOMON, THE SHOLOM ALEICHEM SHOW, BE MY FRIEND. Her works are published by Playwrights Canada Press, Simon & Pierre (Dundurn Press), Gage, Pembroke, and of course Pioneer Drama Service. Aviva is artistic director of CAMEO PRODUCTIONS and directs the popular Performance Playreading Ensemble fo the Côte St. Luc Library. She is married to Nahum Ravel, has four children, and six grandchildren. |
