The villain sets out to eliminate the old man and discover the site of the strike. His scheme involves the lovely Claudette and the beautiful but bad Mayo River. The day Dirty Jake plots his dark deeds is the day Claudette and Sergeant Bob Sledd are set to marry. Before his death, Zachariah entrusts a map with the strike’s location to Claudette. Mayo swears she witnessed the Mountie shoot down the old man. Dirty Jake promises to have Mayo change her story if Claudette will marry him.
