This touching adaptation delves into the broken heart of a disappointed woman and brings forth healing and forgiveness. Based on the Russian folktale about a poor peasant who misses her chance to meet the king of kings, this character-driven drama is appropriate for Christmas or any time of year. Nadia is a compulsive young woman left devastated by the death of her infant son and the abandonment of her husband. She has the course of her life changed forever after a mysterious visit by an ageless wise man who leaves her with a blessing — the basket of presents she was never able to give her son becomes perpetually filled with gifts to help and heal children. She soon becomes everyone’s babushka — or grandmother — and travels near and far helping others. Along the way, she finds that she fills the emptiness in her own heart and even comes to forgive her husband. Devoting herself to doing what she feels she was created to do, Babushka’s life’s reward brings her an invitation to return home... to be with the king of kings.
