After completing an MFA in Costume Design at Carnegie-Mellon University, Arnold S. Levine went to Western Illinois University where he taught Costume Design and Construction. He has been the Resident Costume Designer for Indiana Rep. Totem Pole Playhouse and the Harlequin Dinner Theatre, and has designed for other regional theatres around the country. Moving to New York City, Arnold became Assistant to the Costume Designer/Costumer for the New York City Ballet. Thereafter he assisted Tony Award winning designers Patricia Zipprodt and Florence Klotz. Since 1989 he has been owner of Arnold S. Levine, Inc., a theatrical millinery and craft studio where many of the patterns in this book were created and developed.
